Aquaman #14 SPOILER REVIEW

Writer: Dan Abnett
Artist: Philippe Briones, Colorist: Gabe Eltabe, Letterer: Pat Brosseau
Price: $2.99

The Deluge Act 3

The United States sends a special ops group called the Aquamarines to assassinate the King of the Atlanteans Aquaman, but they were not prepared for the powers of Aquaman. After being saved by Mera, Aquaman has to stop Byss from killing one of the attackers with a giant sea monster by using his powers to communicate with fish. After capturing the final attacker, he holds a meeting with what remains of his war council where he asks Byss how he handled his monster. Finding that it is a weak copy of what his power is and N.E.M.O. used a stronger version they could track it to his source. Aquaman then addresses his people as King, explaining he is going to try one last time to end the fighting between the Land Dwellers and Atlanteans in peace, and if he fails he will step down as King. The data found leads Aquaman to Ponta Da Alta: the temporary base of operations for N.E.M.O.

The Confessional

First things first: this artwork is a salvation in itself, especially the full page of Mera. The story was quick to read, I found myself really enjoying this issue. For anyone who has put down Aquaman I would highly recommend picking up this Deluge arc.
