Hal Jordan and The Green Lantern Corps #12 SPOILER REVIEW

Writer: Robert Venditti
Artists: Ethan Van Sciver, Jason Wright, Dave Sharpe
Price: $2.99

Orange is the new Black

I always saw Larfleeze as a pretty loveable character, that is until I saw the demonish, monster side of him. Which of course was always there. When he wants something he WANTS it. Yes, I know Avarice can be dangerous, but after the Larfleeze’s Christmas special I can’t help but have a soft spot for him. Anyways, the Green and Yellow Lanterns have escaped Larfleeze’s snow globe, but now face even worse horrors. They fight against the lost souls of Orange Lanterns in Sitrep, and if they die there, forever will their souls remain. But do not fear because the best of the best are coming to the rescue. Kyle Rayner and Hal Jordon now know of their friends’ capture and are on their way to save the day. An unexpected twist occurs when the Yellow Lanterns are the ones to wield the most powers. While The Green Lanterns do what boys do best, break stuff. Yup to give the Yellow’s power they are creating fear in Larfleeze by breaking his adored collections.

Back from the Dead

To the delighted surprise of the Lanterns Hal, Kyle, and the guardian shows up to the party. The four iconic heroes battle side by side to take down the greedy orange souls. In a fit of anger Larfleeze lashes out at Braniac’s controlled robotic figure, giving freedom to Braniac at last. But not so fast,  Larfleeze then takes his other souls and head out into the abyss to recollect his things. Tomar’s planet is safely put back and the Yellow’s and Greens hold their piece. Maybe even join together?...
because whomever Larfleeze kills, their soul then belongs to him. That’s some bad luck Brainiac.

 The Confessional

This issue was a lot of fun art wise, because there were some great close ups of Larfleeze, making me realize how scary his face actually is. There were also some creative constructs created in the battle of Sitrep. I am so stoked to see Hal back with the Lanterns and to be able to see them interact once again. I also see this as a sign of something big and bad heading their way. At least I’m really hoping there is. There is also the hint of the Yellow and Green Lanterns becoming one?!? I don’t know how that’s going to work, but I can’t wait to see how it unfolds! With Sinestro gone I really want someone else from the Lanterns early days to reemerge. Or even better, have some Watchmen action come into play!
