The Atom #1 (2 different reviews so extra opinions for you!) SPOILER REVIEW

Writer: Steve Orlando
Artist: Andy MacDonald, Colorist: John Rauch
Cover Price: $2.99

The Atom is Back

This issue is a backstory on the relationship of Ray Palmer and Ryan Choi. Ryan decided to go to college where Ray Palmer was teaching so he could learn from him. Flash forward a year Ray asks Ryan why we he is studying science. After giving a basic response that would have made any mentor proud, Ray makes Ryan dig a little deeper where he explains that he wants to show the world that small things matter. That is when Ray shows him that he is The Atom. After that we see Ryan helping Ray as the Atom, Ray as a professor, fellow students and getting a beer with Ray.

Flash forward a week and we get into scenes that is recap from the D.C. Rebirth Special where Ryan is upset because he can't get in touch with Ray and he is worried. When he goes into his office Ray leaves him a video message telling Ryan he is the only person who can find him and help him.

The Confessional

My biggest concern was getting more of the same from Steve Orlando in this Justice League of America book: dialogue that doesn't quite fit the story. Yet this story leaves me full of hope for what is to come. The art on this issue is not favorite, but fits this story well so it leaves me with nothing to complain about.
