So we come back and Diana Prince is still locked up. She hasn't spoken and the doctors are labeling her delusional. She closes her eyes and we flash back to the previous arc. Diana, Steve, the tree, and her home, all of it in one beautiful splash page. Thank you Liam Sharp!
Apparently there is an organization that is after Diana. We don't know much about them or how they are tied into what is going on with her but I have a feeling these women are bad bad news. They don't just want Diana but they want a gateway to Themyscira. There was also a reference to a character called the Witch, again don't know too much about her or what her tie-in is but I'm anxious to find out. So we cut back to New York where Barbara Ann, formally Cheetah, Etta and Steve join them.
Say Hello to My Little Friend
Now we are back with Diana, she’s still completely out of it, but we actually get a glimpse of the Snake that I believe is causing all this. It's living in the bite in her arm she received back in Thermyscira when she discovered the tree. He taunts her a little bit and we see that there are eyes on her even in the hospital. Through the taunts I definitely think that this has something to do with the Gods, probably Ares since the last issue where the past Wonder Woman battled Ares we saw that his companion was a snake.
We've already figured out that this group is obsessed with Diana and Thermyscira. Barbara Ann explains she came on their radar and joined them for a secret project which of course she doesn't divulge. Steve absolutely jumps her and honestly rightfully so. Even if she joined as Cheetah its still a bit sketchy. However, Barbara Ann lets them know that she only ever dealt with Cale Anderson or AKA Doctor Cyber. She also briefly describes a few more members, Twins, Poison, Colonel Marina Maru's Mercenary Team. Basically all of these women are Cale's personal army. While they are discussing this group Steve realizes that they have been discovered. Barbara Ann has Etta and Steve go out the back and confronts the Godwatch and demands them to take her to Cale.
We Promised We Wouldn't Call but...
Steve and Etta take off to find someone to help Diana. Etta scolds Steve for jumping on Barbra Ann but again I don't blame him. As much as Cheetah blamed Diana, yeah again don't blame him. They decide instead of making new friends they seek out old ones. They find this bull creature and they told him they know they promised that they wouldn't bother him but this is about Diana.
Ok so the best way I can describe how I feel about this is simply, it wasn't great but it wasn't bad. The art was phenomenal as Liam Sharp has yet to disappoint me. I'm starting to see the issues in swapping story lines, for lack of a better explanation. For whatever reason I was almost lost for this comic, I had to go back and re-read because I had almost forgotten what exactly was going on which I can see why that would be problematic. I actually got kind of frustrated at the end when they revealed the buffalo that Steve and Etta sought out because I don't know who he is. I'm not sure if it is because I am just now getting into Wonder Woman, yes I have read every issue of the Rebirth I'm talking about in general. I just kind of feel like I missed something. I'm not digging the flip flop in this one either. I'm really hoping it gets better because I really am so stoked for this rebirth but this one was kind of meh, for me. I'm still giving it a high blessing but really it's mainly for the art because Liam Sharp is the boss.
