Green Arrow #17

Writer: Benjamin Percy
Artist: Otto Schmidt
Price: $2.99

Should Have Listened to Ollie...

The issue starts off will Ollie creating a new bow from Yew wood. A wood he says is the oldest in the world and has all these crazy beliefs and myths about it (my favorite being that it's associated with immortality and REBIRTH, which is of course in bold letters) After Chief Westberg was killed last issue and Ollie was framed for the murder. Now it's time to continue Westberg’s mission. The art in these panels is amazing. The colors and shading are really well done.

Next we see the newly elected Mayor having a meeting with the head of Queen Industries. Which doesn't go as planned as he ends up at the hands of... The Ninth Circle! Turns out Ollie was right all along and now the Mayor is paying the price for not believing him. Classic.

Say It Ain't So!...

Next we see Ollie and Emi in the woods testing out the new bow and arguing about why Emi can't be called Red Arrow. Ollie then saves her from being hit by an arrow. Turns out Malcolm Merlyn contract has changed from destroying Green Arrow to just full out killing him. Ollie of course puts up a hell of a fight and is about to win until... Diggle hits him over the head with his gun and carries Malcolm off claiming he owes Malcolm his life. Say what?!

The Confessional:

I've really been enjoying this series. The pacing of the story is perfect, the story is fresh yet familiar (maybe too familiar at times but that's to be expected) the Ninth Circle are badass and the art has even improved! The details are getting better and the colors are really well done. Loved the art in the first couple of pages when Ollie is making his new bow.
Holy: ★★★★★★★★✩✩
