Battle of Darkness and Light
Fighting for the soul of Apollo, Midnighter has some tricks up his sleeve. But he’s not the only one using a ruse. Egging on Midnighter, Neuron is enjoying this fight that to him can’t be lost. A binding spell giveS Midnighter an edge in the physical fight. But it might not be enough, this is the curator of Hell we’re talking about here! Pages of pages of blood spattering, good old fashion knuckle fighting, in semi-victory Midnighter edges towards his prize. The prize of course being Apollo’s soul trapped in a bottle. But what deceit! Apollo’s soul was released into the realms of hell hours ago. But true love always finds away, as Apollo is able to find Midnighter’s voice in the darkness, and head his way.
This has been one of the biggest surprises for me. It’s crazy how much I care about these two characters, and I’ve never even seem them together yet! Midnighter is a vulgar, violent, vicious sort of man, and I love him for it. because even with the façade of darkness, Midnighter is one of the most caring characters I’ve seen. I would also say his love is purer than that of a Disney princess. I can’t wait for these two to be reunited. I’m also excited to read about them working as a team. The juxtaposition of Midnighter’s batmanness and Apollo’s obviously virtuousness will be an interesting relationship to watch. The art is fantastic! It’s gritty yet not to the point where the blood and guts is overindulgent. I really like one comics add in some mystery and “oh shit” moments, (I know I’m a wordsmith), this run so far has definitely had plenty of those moments. Applause to Orlando for taking a character I knew nothing about and honestly kind of dreading reading, into one of my favorites!
