The Winter Carnival
Raven has now been sucked into “The Thing” as she so eloquently called it. She is looking for her cousin Mary Beth and trying to figure out how to stop this. These people are screaming for Raven and it is torture for her not to be able to stop it. She finds Mary Beth about to bungee jump off the top of a building and she jumps before Raven can stop her, the cord breaks and Raven realizes that the Thing is controlling every little detail of this world. Mary Beth knocks into Raven and she is back where she started, literally. It's like she is on a loop. She says the same thing and goes through the same motions with no recollection of what happened before. The second she starts remembering the Thing kicks her back to the beginning. As soon as she realizes what’s happening she forces herself to escape the Thing. Alice finds Rachel (Raven) and ultimately begs her to save Mary Beth. Raven realizes if she is going to beat the Thing she is going to have to get everyone to join up and work together. Hand in Hand Raven and the crowd enter the Thing. Raven uses her energy and the solidarity to bust the Thing and dissipate it. Everyone is saved. Luckily no one really has any recollection of what happened. We cut back to Alice's house where Raven is talking to Beast Boy informing him of the situation and telling him to pass it to the Justice League. Elsewhere the Thing is planning its return and gathering more souls.
The story was good but it honestly didn't blow me away. It's kind of disappointing because Raven is one of my favorite Teen Titans. I know she isn't even expected really to get a big story line but I would love for her to eventually get made over into a bigger character. She's a tough cookie and reminds me of myself when I was in high school, minus the whole superpower thing. The are was really great however. I was honestly really shocked as far as art goes. I've seen that some of these minor stories in the DC rebirths have been kinda dull but as far as this series I can't really complain or even say anything bad. Overall loved the art but wish we had a bigger story line.
