Jon and Kathy go on an adventure to find her grandpa and their prized cow who got out of its pen. They head into Deadman’s Swamp to find them where things get weird and Jon saves Kathy with his powers. All of this happens only to find out it was all a hallucination due to the gas that the bogs put out. Jon gets home just in time for his parents to come home and see him sleeping in his bed. Next Issue: Reborn
This issue… I was very surprised as to how much I love Jon in these Superman books. He is discovering his powers and because he is naturally a hero he reveals his powers to Kathy to save her from their mutual hallucinations. This doesn't come without its hiccups, just like while being scared watching a movie and shooting his heat vision out of his eyes. This book was full of hijinks and kids being kids and getting themselves into trouble. My biggest problem with this issue: where is Lois and Clark? I understand Clark being gone doing the whole Superman thing, but Lois? Someone needs to be watching him before he burns down the woods by accident or the house for that matter. Mother of the year award for sure doesn't go to Lois Lane, caring too much about her two careers over her son… The art team in this book is great, not comic book perfection, but pretty darn good… the panel where Jon has two heads is rather distracting, but so easy to just get past that I can't even complain too much about it.
