Supersons #1

Writer: Peter J. Tomasi
Artists: Jorge Jimenez
Colorist: Alejandro Sanchez

Boys Will be Boys

We start off with subagatory hell where a mini evil dude is demanding love from his …on set family? Elsewhere the superboys are off saving the day. At least in a flash forward that is what they were doing. Present time Superboy is all around good self while having a snowball fight with some friends. Unlucky for the bullies who decided adding rocks to snowballs would be fun…jackasses, superboy is tempted to use his powers to teach them a lesson. But again being that perfect kid he decides against it. That is until his bad boy (very close to being a doppelgänger) Robin steps in. Later on Robin again intrudes into superboy’s life to get his help on an investigation. Not a good choice since they run into some big trouble.

The art was really cute and leaned towards the more cartoon looking side. Which I felt was very appropriate for this comic. Most of this issue was very cutesy in fact. I mean what can you expect when it’s the golden boy’s son? Robin’s disguises had me cracking up, mostly because he just drove a bus. Everything about this kid screams Batman is my father! Robin is for sure a bad influence on the sweet and obedient superboy, and its kind of awesome. I enjoy their interactions so much. They’re friendemies! It’s great watching their relationship grow, as they venture out without their super parents. This is a series I have been excitedly waiting for and I think it is absolutely living up to its expectations. Tomasi was the perfect person to give this arc to.  Can’t wait for more!
