Detective Comics #952

Writer: James Tynion IV
Artist: Christian Duce

Let's Get Ready to Rumble...

So as we all know Shiva and her League of Shadows has come to Gotham and so far it has been fantastic. This issue opens with a little back story of how Shiva finds out about her daughter, Ra’s Al Ghul. I loved this opening. Shiva takes down some members of the League of Assassin's and she is badass.

Fast Forward to the Present right where we left off last issue with the team going up against a mob of what seems to be people being brainwashed somehow. Everyone in the mob is carrying a Katana blade that can even Pierce through the hero's suits. Not good! The team really has each other's backs during this fight and I love that you can see how the team has grown to work better together.

Shiva!...

Orphan once again notices that someone is watching everything that is happening and successfully sneaks up on them. Of course we know it's the badass Shiva, who proceeds to fight Orphan and can tell right away that Orphan isn't fighting to the best of her abilities. Luckily Batman intervenes but Shiva drops a smoke bomb and gets away.

Told You So...

Kate gets summoned by her father who warns her again how dangerous Shiva is and that she needs to get away. He knows first hand what Shiva is capable of so we shall see if the team starts listening to him. The issue ends with Orphan watching this over security monitors and Batman approaching. Orphan hugs Batman crying asking “Why her?” Love this story, give me more please!

The Confessional:

I am loving Detective right now. This series was off to a bit of a rocky start in my mind but had just gotten better and better. I love the way we get in depth stories that have to do with each individual team member and I'm really loving Orphans story. Plus, Shiva is badass! The artwork was fantastic too. The way building fade in the backgrounds and the shading and colors were all on point. Can't wait for the next issue.

 Salvation: ★★★★★★★★★★ 10/10
