Unlock your Powers:
In this issue we have Kong Kenan recruited to help Lex Luthor to help him with a security issue. Once in Metropolis it is revealed that Lex really wants Kenan to help him open a door that will give Kenan all of his powers. Upon opening the door Avery Ho shows up to try to stop them followed by the China White Triad. When the smoke settles Superman is in the room. Next Issue: Super-Man meets Superman.
Can I state my only real complaint about this book… do we really need a dialogue change between Mandarin and American? I mean this is comics, it's not a far stretch that everyone can understand each other in our fictional world? Now for the story points; I understand why Kenan would want to take the shortcut, but he should really have listened to Master I-Ching… last issue we went over everything about his destiny was on his chest, that the symbol was the path to making him the Super-Man he is meant to be. However, with a way to gain his abilities without working for them he opened the doors, which happens to be the doorway to Diyu, or hell. Now something very important happened that will push this stories future, Robinbot found something ministries database about Kenan’s mother… normal I don't like when something like this is put into a story, because it's something we won't see for maybe 3-5 issues from now and it's something so small we will forget about it, however it was a nice way to break up the current story. Now this art was interesting and I'm not sure why, but I find myself liking the China White Triad. This ending has me curious, when Superman shows up in a story that's not his he means business. I also really find myself enjoying Lex up to no good again.
