It’s time for training and Simon and Jessica better suit up and get ready. Two of the greatest Lanterns are going to put them through the ringer.
***NON-SPOILERS and SUMMARY AT THE BOTTOM***
Simon and Jessica have just entered boot camp; taking any confidence they had in themselves, and throwing it down the tube. Guy and Kyle aren’t going easy on the newbies, and I think we’re about to get the best out of Baz and Cruz yet. Meanwhile, Rami is desperately searching for an answer to how he can reconstruct his lantern. He finds it, but it means finding the first seven Green Lantern rings.
Just One Hit
It was great to see the duo be put through boot camp. It mad me think back to when Hal was going through his training. Except, I don’t think Hal had it this hard…jeeze lighten up Guy! The ending was suppose to make us feel like Jessica might be out of the Lantern Corps, but I’m 99% sure that she’s going to actually gain the respect of Guy instead. Almost too predictable. Also, Alitha’s little story arc was eerily similar to Wonder Woman’s origin… I’ve been having a hard time staying connected to Simon and Jessica, they’ve almost become flat. Which makes me extremely sad, because they both have really great stories. I’m hoping this storyline will lead to some revelations in themselves, and I can get reacquainted with my love for them.
Sum it Up!
It’s one on one, as Simon and Jessica have to prove to their trainers that they are worth the rings they wear. I’m excited to get back on track with the main plot, and I think we are finally going to get some real down to the core, character development. Either way, after this issue, I’m back on board with the Green Lanterns.
