Super Sons # 4

Writer: Peter J. Tomasi
Artists: Jorge Jimenez
Colors: Alejandro Sanchez

The boys find themselves in over their heads. Lucky for them Robin always has a plan b…and c... and D, well you get the picture.

He’s Super …Jon?

The boys are tangled up and with an army of themselves surrounding them, it appears there is no way out. Just as Robin predicted, Lex sweeps in to help, or more so punish. With the three of them, plus little red head magneto-esque girl, they are able to put a stop to Amazo Kid’s treachery. Exhausted and beat up the boys head home, to find a very angry mom and Alfred.

Family Troubles

As I first started reading, I was worried that maybe this story was starting to become a little redundant. But I think I only felt that way because a lot of books came out this week with a more juvenile feel, and some of them also featured Damien. As many quick remarks and banter as I’ve read this week, this book was still able to get some laughs from me. As diligent as the two boys are, they are still kids, and I really like that Tomasi seems to be exploring that aspect of them. This was a great first arc to test out not only their relationship, but their ability to some day take over for their fathers. I do hope there’s more development and depth in the next couple issues.

Sum it Up!

Tomasi is easily making me feel like I’m reading about two brothers. In only four issues you can see a slight change in the dynamic of their relationship. Yes, the boys can’t stand each other to a degree, but you can tell there’s some respect there as well. Both have a key to iconic thrones, and as readers we are along for the ride as they “find themselves,” as cliché as that sounds. A great story that’s fun and entertaining. It may not seem like it now, but someday these two boys are going to be big players in the DC universe.
