The Fall and Rise of Captain Atom # 6

Writer: Cary Bates & Greg Weisman
Artists: Will Conrad
Colors: Ivan Nunes

A hit man is hunting down everyone who had the slightest possibility at turning him over to the cops. Will Caption Atom be able to neutralize the Max?

Don’t Hit a Hit man

Ultramax is hunting down the General, because he’s one of the possible men who turned him over to the police. We soon find out that it was in fact Eiling who turned him in; he did it because even then Eiling saw what a monster Max truly was. Tensions are still high since Eiling had been keeping the fact that Captain Atom had a son, away from him. But Captain Atom has no choice but to go in swinging, because UltraMax has taken the Atom's son hostage!

Even More Secrets

After an explosive fight, Eiling reveals why he really was keeping the son a secret, he believed the kid would inherit powers similar to his fathers, and it turns out he wasn’t wrong. When a lose stream of electricity bolted towards Genji, Genji’s body omitted a electrical type barrier to protect itself. Proving that the apple does in fact not fall far from the tree. This secret won’t be kept long as Captain Atom’s whistleblowing admirer is already on the case.

Not Really the End

One of the best books I’ve read in Rebirth so far, I was sad to see the words “The End” but it is not in fact the end for Captain Atom, as the last page shows us that he’s caught the eye of some very important people. Seriously this book had every thing I could want in a story; drama, action, secrets…it was like a Michael Bay soap-opera…okay that sounds bad, but it really is a fantastic book.

Sum it Up!

This is everything a comic should be. If you haven’t been reading Captain Atom, go to your nearest local comic book store, and pick up these six issues. I loved it so much, I pray that some of the other writers from other titles read this book, and go back to their own books and try harder. I  hope this isn’t that last we see of Bates and Weisman on a book together!
