The Road Trip
The watered down message of America continues as Supes and his family explore Washington D.C. As they visit the Veterans wall, Lois gives thanks to her uncle that served, and Jon learns about all the lives lost. Some more history lessons, and Superman does a good deed…that’s all folks.
Okay so the first round of this I could get behind. Superman is our all American boy so of course America’s history would be important to him, and he wants it to be important to his son, I get that. But two issues of this! I don’t know what Tomasi and Gleason were thinking?!? Don’t get me wrong I am just as much as a history buff, and I am constantly reading about the past, but there is a time and place for this. It seems like they needed a filler story, fine whatever, have Superman work with Jon and his powers some more. Have two issues of Jon getting used to living in the city. It’s not ever the 4th of July so I don’t understand the relevance or purpose of this story, for two issues!
Yeah the good deed that Superman did was sweet, but unrealistic and silly. Maybe if this story wasn’t so kiddy it wouldn’t have been so dull to read…again. Like the whole people disagree, that’s what makes America great. How about we talk about why they disagree, about the real issues that are facing America today. If you are going to root a comic into reality at least make it real!!! I’m seriously dumbfounded that such talented writers, that I admire greatly, had this be two issues long.
